Privacy Policy

Last Updated: May 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how the developer of Watermelon Todo ("we", "us", or "Developer") handles information in connection with the Watermelon Todo application (the "App"). By using the App, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy and consent to the practices described in it. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Summary

  • The App has no user account system. We do not ask for, and do not have, your email, name, or any other registration information.
  • Tasks, lists, and projects you create are stored on your device and, if you enable iCloud, in your personal iCloud account. We do not receive a copy.
  • Voice recordings are transcribed on your device and are not uploaded.
  • When AI features are enabled, text (the transcript of what you said, or selected task content used for daily summaries) is sent to a third-party AI processor solely to return a result back to your device.
  • We collect anonymous usage analytics to understand how the App is performing. These events do not contain task content and are not tied to any account identifier.
  • We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not run advertising.

2. Data Stored On Your Device

The following data is created and stored locally on your device, and, if you enable iCloud sync in iOS Settings, synced to your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service:

  • Tasks, subtasks, lists, projects, due dates, priorities, progress, status, notes;
  • App preferences and settings;
  • Daily summary text generated for you (if you enable that feature).

iCloud is provided by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

3. Voice Capture and AI Processing

3.1 On-device transcription

When you press and hold to record, your speech is transcribed on your device using an on-device speech model. The audio is processed solely to perform transcription and is not used for any other purpose.

3.2 AI task analysis and daily summary

When AI task analysis is enabled (default), the App sends the transcribed text of your voice capture to a third-party AI processor so it can be turned into structured tasks. When the optional Daily Summary feature is enabled, the App sends selected task content (titles, due dates, priorities, completion status of recent tasks) to the same processor so a summary can be generated. In each case, the result is returned to your device. The audio itself is not sent.

We do not associate the transmitted text with any account identifier, because the App has no account system. The third-party AI processor's handling of this text is governed by its own terms and privacy policy, which we do not control.

Your consent and control. By keeping AI task analysis and/or Daily Summary enabled, you consent to the transmission and processing described above. You can withdraw consent at any time by turning these features off:

  • Settings → AI — disables AI task analysis. When off, transcribed text is not sent to the AI processor.
  • Settings → Daily Summary — disables morning and/or evening summaries. When off, task content is not sent to the AI processor for summaries.

4. Anonymous Usage Analytics

The App collects a small set of anonymous, aggregated usage events to help us understand how the App is performing — for example, which onboarding step was reached, whether a permission was granted or denied, which generic interest categories were selected (such as "Work" or "Health"), and which screens were viewed. These events:

  • Do not contain task content, voice transcripts, notes, or any free text you entered;
  • Are not associated with your Apple ID, name, email, or any user account, because the App has no account system;
  • Are used solely to improve the App, prioritize features, and diagnose issues.

We may retain anonymous and aggregated analytics data indefinitely. Aggregated and anonymized data is not personal information and may be used and disclosed for any purpose permitted by law.

5. Permissions

The App may request the following iOS permissions. You can change any of them at any time in iOS Settings → Watermelon Todo:

  • Microphone — required to record your voice for task capture. Audio is transcribed on-device and discarded.
  • Speech Recognition — used with microphone to convert speech to text on-device.
  • Notifications — used to deliver morning and evening daily summaries at the times you choose. Off by default.
  • Calendar — optional. Used to surface your calendar deadlines alongside tasks.
  • iCloud — optional. Used to sync your data across your own Apple devices.

Denying any of these does not break the App; only the affected feature becomes unavailable.

6. Subscriptions and Payments

Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple via the App Store and StoreKit. We do not see, store, or process your payment details, billing address, or Apple ID. We receive only an anonymous indicator of whether a subscription is currently active so that Pro features can be unlocked on your device. Refunds are administered solely by Apple. You can manage or cancel your subscription at App Store → your Apple ID → Subscriptions.

7. No Sale of Personal Information

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under applicable U.S. state privacy laws. We do not have any advertising network embedded in the App.

8. Data Retention and Your Choices

Because the App has no user account, you directly control most of your data:

  • Delete tasks, lists, or projects from within the App at any time.
  • Disable iCloud sync from iOS Settings to keep your data on a single device.
  • Uninstall the App to remove local data. iCloud-synced data can be removed via iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage → Watermelon Todo.
  • Turn off AI features in Settings to prevent any further transmission of text to the AI processor.

We do not retain the text sent to the AI processor after the response has been delivered, other than transient processing and routine server logs kept for security, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention for a limited period. Anonymous analytics data may be retained in aggregated form for as long as it is useful for product improvement.

If applicable law gives you specific rights — such as the right to access, correct, delete, or port personal information about you, or to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — you can exercise those rights by contacting us at [email protected]. Because the App does not collect identifying information from you, in many cases we will have nothing to access, correct, or delete on our side beyond what you can already control directly through the App, iOS Settings, and the App Store.

9. International Users and Data Transfers

The App is operated for use worldwide. If you enable features that involve a third-party service (such as AI processing or anonymous analytics), the limited data described in this Privacy Policy may be processed in a country other than the country in which you reside, including in countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your country. By using those features, you consent to such transfers. You can opt out by disabling the relevant features in Settings.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for safeguarding the device and Apple ID used with the App.

11. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

12. Third-Party Services

The App relies on third-party services, including Apple iCloud and the App Store, an AI processing provider, and an anonymous analytics provider. Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party service, and you are encouraged to review their policies before using features that rely on them.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated policy will be posted at this URL with a new "Last Updated" date. For material changes, where required by law we will provide additional notice (for example, an in-app notice). Your continued use of the App after the updated policy takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

14. Severability

If any provision of this Privacy Policy is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
